“You’ve never forgiven me for leaving, and you’ve never forgiven yourself for not being me.”

Eilidh is stuck. Caught in limbo, unable to face school, her distant mother, her absent sister. And so she chooses not to choose. To sit and wait, and watch the world turn around her. To indulge all of the parts of her brain that tell her to stay in bed, not answer the phone, turn on the TV. But then, suddenly, not living is no longer an option, and Eilidh is forced to reckon with the choices (or lack of) that she has made.

How can you forgive other people when you have not learnt how to forgive yourself? How can you continue to move forward when you are so caught up in anatomising what went wrong before? How can you live if you do not trust yourself enough to get it right? Eilidh is about to find out.
