December 2021, and cousins Alex and Sam are driving their distant great-uncle George’s ashes back to Scotland in time for Christmas. As they draw closer to the Scottish border, they begin to wonder about their great-uncle’s strange request for his ashes to be spread in Ballachulish, a village in the Highlands that none of them have ever been to. Interspersed with this are a series of flashbacks to George’s life in the 1970s, which give us some insight into why he left Scotland those years ago, and his cryptic final request.
